Most folks I know who design interfaces subscribe to "the best interface is no interface". There are a number of OTHER people, though, who are fresh out of VB class, who visibly start twitching when they hear that phrase.

They spend months working out incomprehensible interfaces, using bizarre graphical components, polished stone buttons that look EXACTLY like rivets, and animated whangdoodles.

They get along well with Information Architects.

I beg whatever powers that be to ship these "Interface Designers" (the second batch, not the first batch) off in the "B" ark. And if there's any room, their buddies the Information Architects, too. If thereISN'T any room, then toss the whole lot in a blender and evenly distribute the puree among chilled cryo-capsules.

Bureaucrats Who Like It

I'd really like to get rid of the lady who calls me every other week to remind me that I haven't picked up my paycheck... but it isn't really a paycheck. It's a conformation of direct deposit. She also likes to remind me that I haven't been signing in and out every day. I once explained to her that I'm an intern, which means that even though I'm not there every day, they are paying me to work full-time, since some of my work is done at my minor site. This about made her head explode.

So, in short, I'd like to get rid of any creators or enforcers of superfluous forms. May they land on a gaseous planet that kills them slowly and with much pain.

Self-appointed censors

While I can see humor in this, I nominate anyone who has self-appointed themselves as a censor. My favorite recent story involves the cast of Jerry Springer, The Opera staging a benefit performance for a cancer socitety, after which religious folk pressured the charity not to accept money tainted by coming from such a source.

From "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy":

Golgafrincham, home of the Great Circling Poets of Arium, decided it was time to rid itself of an entire useless third of its population, and so concocted a story that their planet would shortly be destroyed in some great catastrophe. The useless population (consisting of hairdressers, tired TV producers, insurance salesmen, personnel officers, security guards, management consultants, telephone sanitizers and the like) were packed into the B-Ark, one of three giant Ark spaceships, and told that everyone else would follow shortly in the other two. The other two thirds of the population, of course, did not follow and "led full, rich and happy lives until they were all suddenly wiped out by a virulent disease contracted from a dirty telephone".

The B-Ark was programmed to crash-land on the first planet it came across, which happened to be Earth, and the Golgafrinchans gradually usurped the native cavemen, becoming the ancestors of humanity and thereby ruining the great experiment to find the question for the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

The purpose of this tribe is to examine candidates for our own B Ark. Who would you suggest?
